Just wondering if anyone has any insight/input on the Ontario Rebates Heat Pump program - is this a legit grant or a scam? Essentially I received a call claiming that Ontario Rebates is contracted out by the Ontario Government and that I was being contacted as when I filed my 2022 income taxes that I wished to apply for grants (which I always check yes if its something I think I'll qualify for). When talking to them he listed a few grants/programs that I didn't qualify for (due to making too much) but then said I might qualify for the Heat Pump program. After getting the age of my furnace/AC, hydro/gas bill, square footage, etc he said that installing the heat pump would save enough money per month for the house to qualify. The cost would be $90/month (canβt remember for how long) which is supposed to pay for itself by knocking more than 90/month off your monthly bill. On top of that they will add 24" of blow-in insulation to the attic and caulk all the windows/doors. Anyways I said go ahead and apply to see if we qualify and get back to me. My sister got scammed a few years back with one of those pay X per month for a new furnace/AC deals which essentially cost them something like $30k plus had a lean put on their house so obviously I have major concerns that this is potentially something similar.
