Can I see two specialists for the same issue, or will the first one drop me?

Post Body

I was referred to a specialist in my city for an ongoing health problem, which is good since I don’t have a car and it’s easy to get to them. But if would like a second opinion on something and went to see another specialist, would I no longer be able to see the first one who is near me?

I have seen this second specialist many years ago, and they are really knowledgeable and seemed to provide a lot better care meanwhile the first one just kind of sends you in and out and doesn’t seem to listen or want to help very much. The second one has openly said they would accept me again as a patient.

Unfortunately this second specialist is 3 hours away from me, so while they are great, if going there meant I would lose access to the first one, that would be difficult. I don’t know if I would want to give up the ability to see someone in my city, so I’m just trying to judge how to go about this. I have no idea if the first specialist will drop me if I pursue another one for the second opinion.

Apologies if this is a dumb question.
