What does the top percent even mean??

Ok so 1, I’m only a little over a month into OF and I thought the top ___% was based on how much you are making in ratio to other content creators. But … I just don’t think that’s true. For example Im in the 10% at the moment but I’ve only made about 1500… there’s just no way that’s in the top 10%. Is it potentially based off of consistency of interaction? Like posting, messaging stuff like that?? I’ve read so many post and it just doesn’t seem to make any sense that the percentage is income.
