Post Body

Hey everyone, I’m trying to make sure I’m doing my taxes right as an OnlyFans creator, and I’d love some input from those of you who’ve been through this.

When it comes to reporting income, OnlyFans takes 20% of my sales off the top before I even see my payout (I only get 80%). I’ve been reporting 100% of what fans pay as gross income and then deducting the 20% as a business expense for taxes.

However, I know some creators who only report the 80% they actually receive as income and don’t deduct the 20% at all. It’s caused a bit of debate between me and a good friend who insists the 20% isn’t technically a fee, so I shouldn’t report it this way.

I was under the impression that platforms like OnlyFans are similar to Uber, Etsy, etc., where the full amount is considered gross income, and the “cut” they take is a deductible fee. Am I handling this correctly?

I’d love to hear how other creators are doing this and if anyone’s gotten advice from tax professionals about it. Taxes can be so confusing for self-employed creators! 😅

Any insights or experiences you could share would be super helpful. Thanks in advance! 💖
