Iâm under the belief that this is actually against the âmoderator code of conduct.â Specifically the rule about fostering a good faith community. Essentially you cannot use your subreddit to bully other subreddits. By banning you from their subreddit for participating in another subreddit-they are actively bullying that subreddit.
We need to start reporting these. Reddit has its own report form specifically for reporting a subreddits mods for breaking this code. Itâs a big form that requests a lot of evidence. They get heard and youâre able to actually make your case.
If youâre annoyed by this but feel like itâs not a big deal, please remember that when you are banned from a subreddit it lowers your âContribution Quality Scoreâ which can lead to an ever increasing shadowban. Your posts will get auto-removed more often as the score drops eventually leading to a full shadow ban.
CQS is also how many of the larger more established subreddits filter for spam, and Reddit themselves can start flagging your posts as âpotential spamâ or âreputation riskâ. When mods see that on their queue they just remove the post.
You can check your accountâa CQS by going to the âWhat Is My CQSâ sub.
TLDR: report subreddit moderators for breaking the Moderator Code of Conduct. Rule 3: âRespect Your Neighbors.â And point out that they are interfering with other Reddit communities as well as punishing users for appropriately using the site.
Edit: spelling mistakes.
Edit : re: âjust use a different accountâ
I do not disagree. I agree if you can use a different account absolutely do this.
However the above CQS issue actually results in users being unable to make usable new accounts. The CQS score transfers over, and that on top of being a new account drops the CQS lower resulting in an immediate shadowban. This prevents the account from being able to participate in any capacity on the site.
Also, often users are banned from subreddits they are not and have not participated in.
Again I need to stress I am not advocating for using one account, nor am I advocating for NSFW subreddits to be purposefully infiltrating SFW subreddits.
My point is this is against the rules of Reddit and it hurts our accounts. This information is up to everyone to do with as they desire. Thank you to everyone for being very respectful also.
YES thank you for sharing
I'm a moderator of a few subreddits and I can confirm everything you're saying is true. It's worth noting, too, that if you are banned from a subreddit and then make a new account, the moderators will see that you are "evading" your ban, which is against Reddit rules!
So think of it this way. You post on some subreddit about cooking, they ban you for being a NSFW account. You say okay, you make a SFW account and post on the same subreddit. They will then ban you AGAIN and report you to reddit admin for ban evasion.
It is better to never get banned in the first place, AND these discriminatory bans are a no-win situation for us.
I got banned from the same subreddit just last week! Alls I did was comment, I was rather annoyed as I comment in many other subreddits without a problem.
That's cool that you do that and all but that's all your choice.
If someone doesn't care about that stuff, or just avoids commenting in subs that would give away their location, and wants to comment in a sub they are interested in, does't man they should get banned for posting/commenting in an nsfw sub. That's literal discrimination.
We should't have to create multiple accounts to be allowed to participate.

This is not at all what OP is trying to help with. If a mod deems your features or body is unfit for the content of their sub, that's up to them.
