🎀 An alternative approach to those also frustrated with marketing: part-time creator, I did an experiment where I did no online promo for a month
Post Body

Goog day girlies!

Marketing is of course very important, if not THE most important, part of our jobs. It can be very grueling and contribute to burnout, I see a lot of posts here about that and I too find myself exhausted by promo, shadowbans, constant posting etc.

For the past year or so, I’ve only been doing OF part time; I’ve stepped back from full time to write a book about my various experiences in the sex industry. This month particularly as the book is in final stages, I experimented with doing no promotion at all on social media, and seeing how I could work with just my existing fans. No reddit ig tiktok or anything, I kept it all within OF.

I’m sharing this because I feel an alternative perspective is good to see: we have some amazing creators currently at the top of their game (hell yea 🌟) who are kind enough to take time out of their busy lives to offer advice and counsel; we have a lot of beginners asking for advice (no shade, we all began somewhere and this community has a lot of helpful resources in the search bar💜) who maybe have certain expectations of OF being easy money, which it is not, or that there is only one way of making it. I don’t see a lot of middle-type creators, former-1% or part time OF girls so I wanted to share my approach.

There are many guides here on how to start, how to market, etc and this is a little bit of a guide on how I handle smaller workloads/taking a break.

My income breakdown at the end of the month And my pending as of today🦭🦭

💖1. I queued content for the whole month in the first few days of the month, so I wouldn’t have to worry about posting and could just do my daily life things. If I was in the mood to take any new pics and spice it up with some ✨ new content ✨ I would post them that day. In the past few years I’ve amassed a huge archive of photos/videos that I could repost, or always find something that appears “new”

💖2. I queued PPVs every other week, related to the posts (ex, a fuck machine related post, with the PPV of the full video sent out to continue a consistent narrative) - or “tip x for this video or video bundle” posts; I would log in to send the content to tippers.

💖3. I logged in 1x a day/every other day, to respond to messages and send content. I have my videos organized in various folders; “2021 videos, 2022 videos etc; fetish, cosplay, GG, fantasy toys” to streamline the organizational process. So a very minimal amount of time spent online, especially compared to when I used to log in countless times a day and have 8 hour screen times creating content, messaging people, advertising.

💖4. Because there wasn’t a whole influx of new fans, it eliminated people saying “hey” “hi babe” and the extra tasks of upselling and explaining to new people. Of course I had a smaller pool of fans as rebills dropped, but it was a lot easier on my mental bandwidth to work with less fans who spend more, than more fans who spend less (or nothing beyond the sub price). I didn’t do any sexting or cock ratings or customs this month; I did a few video chats in the beginning of the month, I find those less labor intensive personally. YMMV with how you approach extra services.

💖5. Mindset of accepting an income cut. Mindset in general. If you do the work, you’ll see results. Sometimes you really need to take a break, mental health and physical health are important to take care of, to regenerate and recover from burnout until you’re okay to resume work again. I had taken breaks in the past, but nothing as long as this. My income has halved in the past year, esp this month, but at the price of stabilizing my mental health and finishing the draft of my book it evens out. I know my figures this month are chump change compared to other creators and even my own when I promo’d a lot, but I wanted to offer a realistic look that it’s possible to cut down on promo/take time off and still be able to use your resources to sell to current subs and attempt to work smarter, not harder. There’s ways of having passive income through sub rebills; I experimented with passive income through my content archive. I have about ~70% renew rate, my fan count was never super high but many were loyal customers who stayed beyond their first month. My focus was always content-forward with new posts every day. When I did more promo I think renew rate was like ~40% and this slowly shifted in the past year as I promoted less overall. Idk if I will return to promo in the next month or continue as is, but I know I can return to it and resume the grind when I’m ready, trying out different strategies and switching things up. This job requires a lot of adaptability and resilience to handle tough times.

💖6. Saving for tough times/slow months. We all know doing this can be very fluctuant; depending on how social media promo hits (or doesn’t) it’s possible to make for example 13k one month and 3k the next. For those inconsistencies or life emergencies, it really helps to live below your means and keep the $ in a savings account for the future. Financial literacy isn’t taught in schools, we have to figure out our own ways of surviving, budgeting, managing. In certain times I’ve also thought about quitting; a soft retirement of sorts. I’ve had my time on this platform since 2020 and the burnout is strong. When I was full time, most of my life revolved around OF and personally it was draining. I have a better work/life balance now, it has pros and cons. But as long as there’s even a small potential/demand for content and at least some income, I’ll keep going with the natural flow of my account. It can have a comeback, it can flop, whatever happens I’ll be okay and I’ll handle it. It’s also why I’ve been working on my Cyberhorny book - it will be a collection of psychological analyses of this industry, my experiences, some tips, overall everything I’ve learned from handling burnout to parasocial relationships to body image discourse and handling fluctuations.

✨ A while back I posted the pdf outline; it’s now progressed to a full 250 page draft and will be published at the end of the year.

💖7. Slow seasons/peak seasons: is it a myth? While yes sure there can definitely be slower times like in summer or winter or whatnot, I think we often make excuses for ourselves not doing the work to upkeep our accounts. It’s completely possible to evade a slow month if your marketing is on point; people are always online. It’s relentless. For every man who is offline during holidays to spend time with his family, there’s a man online yearning for a holiday gooning sesh 😜 Luck can definitely play into this; a random video going viral, or a whale of a fan who wants to buy your entire video collection. On the flip side, sometimes you’re doing everything right by the formula but it just isn’t your moment. That’s okay, as long as you persist and don’t give up, research and put the work in, you’ll do well 💖💖💖

Anyway, this is quite long but I hope it’s useful and supportive to some of you. There are many ways to do OF, not every formula will work for every account; this is my perspective as a part time creator. I completely understand the discouragement and exhaustion that comes with the type of carnivorous promo we do and the amount of effort it really takes to perform well on this platform. Comparison is the thief of joy; we all have our own types of beauty, ability to handle stress, and ways to achieve our individual goals 💗(Also if this isn’t helpful to anyone, of course mods can remove). Good luck on all of your journeys, much love !! ✨🦭✨💞

You’re welcome 💕 Not long - I mainly repurpose content I’ve made through 2020-2023, but back then I filmed a loooot, I have over 100k media files in my archive so I basically choose a theme and center my posts around that. Some of the old content was never released so it looks new.

It takes me maybe a day or two to choose the content, write out posts, and queue it. In 2024 I’ve made new content maybe 1-2x a month, and aligned it to the themes of my past content, if that makes sense. Sometimes I’ll take random pics in the course of my day if I’m dressed up or feeling up for it, whatever feels natural

Daily on feed, PPV 1x a week~ I choose based on aesthetic so the page has variety and novelty, and what I think will sell / what fans would be interested in seeing and buying

🥳 it will be called Cyberhorny: Navigating a Sexual Dystopia, and it’s not out yet but perhaps similar to my previous one

This is a very helpful post :)

You’re welcome 💕 It can definitely be overwhelming at the beginning but being in a mindset of learning, trying different things, and leaning into what works for you, will do wonders! I think you’ll be surprised what can happen in six months, especially if you remain consistent. Good luck ✨🦭

YES 🙌 it really is a lifesaver cause it takes minimal time, and time is really the most valuable currency. Having a workflow that’s as easy and fun as possible is so important. May your rebuild go smoothly 🧚‍♀️
