How to set up forwarding from a custom domain to your OF tracking link
Post Body

The is a guide on how to remove your linktree from your sales funnel. A lot of creators use the double linktree technique to avoid getting flagged by IG. If you set up a custom domain, when a user clicks on the link in your bio they will automatically get sent to your OF tracking link without the steps in between. You can use one custom domain to set up unlimited OF tracking links by using subdomains.

I'll be using Hover in this guide but you can do this anywhere you can register a custom domain.

Go to Hover and purchase your custom domain. The ideal domain is yourusername.com so mine is allyelliot.com, all the other .xyz, .me, .lol have the potential to look spammy and some platforms won't let you use them.

I use my stage name, stage email, fake phone number and fake address to register the domain. Hover includes Whois Privacy by default which means they keep your information private but I am very privacy focused. When on your dashboard, you'll want to double check Whois Privacy is toggled on. You can use an ICANN lookup tool to find your domain and double check that your information is not publicly available.

In OF, go to Settings > Profile > Tracking Links and create your tracking link. I have separate links for every IG and marketing platform I have.

Then follow this Managing domain forwarding documentation to set up your link forwarding in Hover. I have my http://allyelliot.com link forwarding to https://onlyfans.com/allyelliot and then subdomains forwarding to different tracking links. For example, http://a.allyelliot.com forwards to my https://onlyfans.com/allyelliot/c41 tracking link.

Then I go to my IG and I put that http://a.allyelliot.com link in my bio. Make sure you're using http:// not https:// in your link or the link won't work!!! Also test all your links both on mobile and desktop to make sure they're forwarding correctly. It's a good idea to do this at least once a week if not once a day because if your funnel is broken you're getting zero subscribers.

Now when a user clicks on the link in my IG bio (or my stories) they are sent directly to my OF without the steps in between. And because of the tracking link I know exactly where that user came from. The tracking links aren't 100% accurate because if the user has their privacy settings on (that popup that asks you "Allow Instagram to track your activity?") the tracking link can't capture the date it needs to track.

I'm trying to drive all my traffic from IG to my OF so I don't want an extra step in my funnel or to give the user a list of links that could distract them. I've seen other large creators using this technique and I personally haven't noticed that my IG bio gets flagged any more often doing this, but let me know in the comments what your experience has been like!
