Hey! I was active on Reddit and OF from 2020-2021 and was happy with the success (made it to top 5%) but decided to take a break for various reasons. Husband and I decided recently to get back into it, and I was pleasantly surprised by how many fans were happy to see me return! I started again last week and have about 57 subs on OF, most of which were previous fans that came back, putting me in the top 14%.
While I'm happy with a solid start on OF, Reddit has been a different story. All of my old content was hosted by imgur prior to the ban, so coming back everything was just broken links. I decided to delete all of my old posts and just post a mix of old and new content as promotions. Big mistake, apparently. Several subreddits instantly banned me, assuming I am a purchased account. I've sorted most of that out by providing a lot of proof to any moderator that would hear me out, several others are saying I just need to wait some amount of time to build up post history to post there again. Some of my favorite subs automatically block my posts and do not reply to my messages.
In the places that I am posting, I'm doing okay, but not nearly as good as I used to. The same posts that were consistently getting 2000-10,000 upvotes are getting 20-100. I have a few posts getting a few hundred, which is nice, but it just seems a lot more difficult to get noticed. Does the new Reddit algorithm not suggest me because of my deleted post history? Is it timing? Am I expecting too much for just returning and I should just try to consistently post high quality content? Or is it just harder in general to get noticed on Reddit than it was in 2021? Any suggestions or advice are appreciated!
