I recently discovered that Instagram has a new (annoying) feature to combat spam. This feature automatically flags certain accounts as spam when they follow you. After 30 days it will remove them from your following list. This will screw over many NSFW creators as many of our followers are people on anonymous, empty accounts who appear to be spam. Luckily thereâs a way to fix this! If you click on your âFollowingâ list on your profile, at the top youâll see a few options, scroll to the right of those options and youâll see a new tab that says âFlaggedâ. Youâll need to look through these and individually confirm each account to not be spam. If you donât do this, they will automatically be removed from your following in 30 days. Many of these accounts donât even appear to be spam, youâll find many accounts that have profile pictures and posts. Itâs a wonder how they even got flagged in the first place. Do this and you should stop mysteriously losing so many followers. Check this tab frequently. I donât see anyone talking about this new feature so please spread the word!
From their FAQ:
"How to turn off automatic filtering of flagged accounts
To opt in to or out of automatic filtering of follower requests from flagged accounts:
In the Instagram app, go to your profile and tap Followers.
Turn off the Flag for review toggle. You can toggle this back on at any time."
Thanks for the heads up!!
