I had been thinking about getting a Onewheel for a couple of years now, and put it off because I couldn't justify the expense. Some things fell together in my life, and at the end of last year my order for a GT was put in.
I waited for months. Regularly, anxiously checking on fluctuating estimated shipping dates.
Time passed and my new Onewheel is finally in hand.
My GT arrived and it works great. This post isn't about GT's, this is about Onewheels, because I think that regardless of what model I bought, the stoke would be the same. The truth of the matter is that this feels like it's been missing from my life up until now.
I have been snowboarding for 25 years, and as time has gone on and life has progressed, my time for snowboarding has become more and more limited. Family time takes priority on the weekends, and it becomes a guilty pleasure to get out to the mountains when I can.
Now, I have this beautiful machine and it's scratching an itch that I've had for so long, I just got used to it... I ride it while walking the kid to school; I ride it during my lunch break; I take my kid to the park in the evening and we both ride it.
No one else in my life fully understands the joy that riding this thing brings. I went on my first real trail ride earlier today, nearly ate shit at 10 mph and managed to run it out, and was laughing like an insane person. Rode back home with a shit eating grin on my face and wobbly knees.
I understand and fully agree with the reasoning behind the community's current sentiment towards FM. That said, if you have a board that you can ride and enjoy, go get some. Coming from a newbie, don't forget about the stoke. This is fucking joy on a wheel.
Float on, Friends.
