I realized something today while learning and practicing riding switch/fakie. It helps to notice where you are focusing your attention in your body while riding regular and then mirror that. Riding regular, I use my front foot more for turning and tend to focus there, letting my back foot relax and move with the board. When I started riding switch I wasn't switching my focus and so my back foot wanted to control the turns and felt stiff. Once I realized this and intentionally focused more on my front foot always, it immediately became much easier and smoother. This also helped me switch directions: by swiftly switching focus to the new front foot, I wobbled a lot less during the transition. Or maybe this is just my imagination and my body just got better on its own. Anyways, hope this tip helps anybody else learning this skill.
