Attempting my first RL1 run and any advice would be appreciated

As the title says, and already I can tell it isn't gonna be easy. So far I've killed Boggart for the Iron Fists (Took many tries), made my way to Fort Gael for the Starscourge Heirloom, since Iron Fists need 11 strength to use, and I beat Margit on my first try so that's good. I'm just looking for any advice going forward, what talismans to look out for or any other items that would help, I do know I'll need the Ritual Sword Talisman eventually. Also how much of the map should I explore? I feel like I don't need to do all of it, just upgrade material, any talismans to get and shardbearers.
