Has anyone traveled long term with snow backpacks, not specifically for skiing/snowboarding?
Post Body

I've been looking for backpacks for a while and stumbled on these snowboarding/skiing backpacks and wonder if anyone has tried using them or similar bags for more than a few day long trips:

What I like about them:

  • Multiple buckets, so you get more default organization
  • They come with hip belts (and load straps on bunch of time)
  • Plenty of hoops to attach items externally
  • hydration sleeve that could act as laptop compartment (tho might be too small)

What I'm not sure about:

  • Back panels don't look breathable, as you're assumed to be wearing a jacket doing winter sports. I would be using the bag all year around, so this might become problematic.
  • Straps may also not be as comfy, since you're assumed to be wearing a jacket too
  • Using them in hot weather times due to the above 2 points
  • Not sure how well they do against water. They're designed to shed snow, but can they handle rain?

What are you thoughts and what have been your experience wearing such backpacks? What factors about using these backpacks am I missing?
