Hey all, I am moving to Europe soon and I would like to make the most of my time and travel when I have the chance. I'd like to find a personal item bag for budget airlines for this, and I'd love to get your thoughts on any of these bags, and any other options! First, my hopes:
- Budget airline personal item size
- Fits a laptop, tablet, and some little items (chargers, in ear headphones, glasses, pen)
- Will fit two small peak design packing cubes, a small peak design wash pouch, and a pair of barefoot running shoes
- Looks reasonable for daily carry
I realize that the peak design pouches might not be packed their whole length, as many of these bags are not as wide as the pouches are long. The shoes pack quite small, probably a little bit smaller than the wash pouch all together. Now, the bags I've considered:
AER city pack pro
- Probably the best fit feature wise
- I like the clamshell, side quick access, and separate laptop compartment
- Unfortunately, I'm not a big fan of the boxy appearance
AER pro pack 20
- Better looking
- Clamshell!
- I can't find a lot of pictures with multiple cubes, I'm not sure if its big enough for my hopes
Able Carry daily plus
- People seem to really like this for daily use
- Big fan of the side angled quick access
- I've heard it's smaller than listed, possibly not big enough
- My favorite aesthetically, overall I would pick this if it would fit my needs
Tortuga laptop backpack (the new one)
- More expensive
- A little on the narrow side but would probably fit this purpose well
Evergoods CHZ22
- Again a bit on the narrow side, but probably reasonable capacity
- No tablet pouch
Peak design everyday zip 20L
- I'm a fan of peak design, I've travelled using their messenger (though it wasn't quite a comfortable carry)
- Very narrow internally, probably would not fit cubes well
I would love to hear your input and experiences with any of these bags, and any other thoughts or recommendations you might have! Thanks in advance
