Why does the olympics happen every four years?

After this olympics finished, I wondered, why can't the olympics be hosted more frequently and why specifically four years. Btw, summer to winter doesn't count, i'm talking four year leaps from summer to summer or winter to winter

holding the Olympics every four years keeps it a major event and gives athletes ample time to train and compete at their best. imagine the hype if it were more frequent. And, it’s a tradition that goes way back.
