Is this a typical Olive Garden interview?
Post Body

Hey guys, so I had the weirdest interview with Olive Garden yesterday and it absolutely made me decide to not work for them. It all started where I got to the restaurant right at my interview time (4 PM) and I told the lady at the front that I was there for my 4 PM interview. No problem, she told me she'd let the manager know and to just take a seat. I'm sitting there, i'm sitting there, time is going by (remember, Olive Garden only gives you a 15 min time slot for interviews). She calls the manager twice on the walkie talkie and goes in the back a handful of times to go looking for them. It is now 4:10, I have 5 min left of my slot, and this lady comes out that looks like a manager. The hostess says that i'm the one she's supposed to be talking to and she goes "oh yes, sorry about the wait, lets go in here". We go in a side room and she pulls out a blank piece of printer paper and a pencil...So there's no structure or plan whatsoever for this interview. She asks me "so what's your past work experience?" and I tell her and she goes "what's your availability?" and I tell her. She writes these notes down and goes "okay, well i'll give this to the hiring manager and see if she needs any hostesses. I'm not the manager so I can't answer any of your questions or really tell you much at all." This was VERY weird because obviously she didn't learn much about me at all and I learned NOTHING from her about the position and I couldn't ask! I asked if I could ask the manager questions if she emails or calls me, and she was like "uuhh...Well i'm going to give this paper to the manager, she will contact you okay?" And that was it. Between the total disrespect for my time, the fact that I didn't even TALK to the manager or learn about the job, it was enough for me to decide I didn't want to work there. I noticed too they were vastly understaffed and it wasn't the warmest work environment. The employees barely interacted and when they did, they seemed cold to each other and annoyed. The online orders person had no idea what she was even doing. Not a good look, I don't know how they hire anyone. I told my friend "you'd have to be a damn fool to work here". Have any of you guys had an experience like this? I was truly blown away by how unprofessional they were. I felt like I could have stayed home and been interviewed by my little sister for this job!
