I have worked for Olive Garden for almost two years. Since I’ve started working here servers have never had to sing happy birthday to tables, most will do it as a gesture. I’m at a new location (not for long) and I said that it’s not a rule that we have to sing, she got like really mad at me and said “we sing at every table unless asked otherwise.” I looked it up to confirm what I’ve been told and google was useless. (This location is also brand new)
Edit: y’all I’m not complaining about singing, I don’t love it but I always do it when people want it, I always ask as well. I was just asking if it was a rule. The argument wasn’t that I didn’t want to, I just said it wasn’t part of the job (I may be incorrect still no direct answer) and she got really mad that I thought that. I have no problem singing and if I can always sing for my coworkers!! Please stop coming at me :(
