While doing a trash out of an abandoned home for a friend, my guys came across some cool old shit that I was able to save from the dump. I'm sure that condition of these bills makes them more than likely worth less than face value, my son however thinks they are the coolest thing in the world. I gave them to him about a year ago, and that jump started his old currency collection. I'd give him a few wheat pennies after this from the 40s and that absolutely lit his fire. He probably has three or four thousand coins now everything from early wheat pennies to silver half dollars to tens of dozens of silver dimes, blemishes, he has collected an amazing amount of coins in such a short period of time. I really enjoy this hobby with him. And yesterday I just got a silver 1938 dime as change from walmart lol
Anywho, because these were fairly large bills in 1864, would the $50 bill had been for Bank transfers or was it common for wealthy people to carry cash money like this?
