Edited to say I probably have enough participants, and I really, really appreciate everyone being so willing to help me out!
Hey everyone,
I am an older student working on an undergrad degree in the social services field. I am currently taking a "research methods" course, for which I need to conduct a qualitative "community-based research project". I am really interested in doing a project based in the Old Hags community, because I think this is the warmest, most inclusive community I've ever encountered. So, I am wondering if anyone would be interested in participating in an interview (over video chat or phone, because unfortunately text-based interviews are a no-go). This would likely be around half an hour, but could be longer depending on people's interests/needs. Alternatively, I can likely also use "personal testimony" or "personal stories" in written form, so long as it isn't framed as an "interview." I have 2 months to complete this course, so I can be really flexible about timing.
Based on the interests that seem predominant in this community (and my own interests) I am considering a topic relating to fashion, "visibility," and disability/chronic illness. Another area I am considering is something in the realm of fashion, environmentalism, and social class. Having said that, I am really flexible and open to other ideas if community members have specific topics they would like to talk about.
About myself/my motives: I am a cis woman in my 30s. I live in the PNW of Canada and am taking classes through an online university. I have been struggling for the past 2-3 years with what is most likely mild ME-CFS (although I have not yet been formally diagnosed) which is part of the reason I am more immersed in online communities than in-person communities (as I don't have energy to go out much). I only lurk in Old Hags because I am more of an aspiring Hag than anything, but I get a lot of inspiration from the people who post here. My original degree path (when I started my degree 15 years ago, lol) was fine art, as I am/was a painter, so art and creativity fashion is also a potential area of interest.
I realize this is a huge ask, but I thought I'd throw it out there and see if anyone is interested. :) I can also post some sort of verification if needed.
Thanks for reading!
