To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand [ʀ]. This rhotic isn't extremely common, and without a solid grasp of Breton phonology most of the jokes will go over a typical speaker's head. There's also [ʀ] trill outlook, which is deftly woven into it's sounding - its use is typicaly common in Southern Occitan for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of this sound, to realize that it's not just a rhotic - it says something deep about LINGUISTICS. As a consequence people who dislike [ʀ] truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the philosophical impact in a sentence like "[ˈtɔʀfɛd ˈbʀezɛl e baˈʀaɡɥɛ]" which itself is a cryptic reference to South American Native mythology and Culture. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as some North Mesopotamian Arabic geniuses start trilling in the back of thier throat. What fools... how I pity them. 📷 And yes by the way, I DO have a [ʀ] tatoo on my uvula. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.
