My question is how would I go about finding out who drilled this well and what the results were. Everyone that was around back then has passed away. Or who would I talk to come back out and retest this well. Since they did this test well the governor of our state has offered a reward for the first producing well in our state there hasn't been one yet even though they were drilling one of the deepest wells around 20 miles away in cave spring ga. I don't know why they picked that spot but from what I can tell where my property is it would be the perfect spot to try as it sits on a huge shale formation and right on a fault line that has pushed this shale formation closer to th surface there are abundant fossils here due to the upthrust crust. There are also other indicators to it being there such when breaking pieces of flint they smell strongly of diesel fuel or kerosene. Am I just wasting my time or should I be looking for a wildcatter to come in and try his luck even to just produce enough to get the bounty from the state. Or should I try and get a job in the industry so maybe on day I can do it myself?
