This may be an unpopular opinion. It may even be just because I’m from a smaller town in the south, right in the good ol’ Bible Belt. You know… the place where there’s a church on every corner and every one is a “Christian” and if you’re not you’re less than. Yeah, that place. But that’s for another post.

Anyway… outside of very specific groups, I hate the way people view sex. Like it’s this magic thing that can make or break a person or relationship. Like it can only live within these specific set of rules and don’t you dare break those rules. And if you do you damn sure don’t tell anybody. Like ruining a young girls life because she accidentally got pregnant. Like ruining a career just because your sex looks different than others. Like punishing a child because of how their parents express their sexuality. Like sex is this thing to be revered and held at a higher standard and not something that’s simply to be enjoyed. A purely pleasurable experience enjoyed by all participants.

Why does it have to be so… sacred? Is that the right word? Why does it have to be so serious? So strict?

And just for clarification I feel like I can speak on this because I’ve been on both sides of it. I’ve been that super Christian who refused to go outside the lines. And now I’m quite the opposite. Someone who feels like there should be no lines.

And to be honest, what I’ve learned is that sex is just sex. No matter how you look at it. Having sex or not having sex does not define a person. Who you have sex with does not define a person. How much you have sex or not does not define a person. And I just wish the world would stop making it something it’s not. People should do what makes them happy. As long as it’s legal and there is consent from everyone… have sex with whoever the hell you want. Do what makes you happy. Do what feels good. I don’t care if you have sex with one person forever. Or multiple people. Or multiple people at once. Or whatever the fuck you want to do. If you enjoy it… do it. And fuck what the majority says.

I don’t know if we’ll ever get to that place… but man wouldn’t it be nice?
