My (M) current employment
Post Body

So, basically at my work where I have been for over a decade, I have been through the wringer so to speak. Talked down to, insulted, told I was always wrong and good for nothing. Usually a toxic environment if you ever saw one. Once I over heard a senior manager say to a more junior one that I was a good for nothing, fat lazy fuck and that he had no idea why he hired me.

I was pulling 16-17 hour split shifts doing the work of work of 3 people. So I quit on the spot. And he grovelled back once he realised I caught him out. So i went back under terms agreeable to me. I'll stop here, for a second.. Me and authority dont exactly mix that well. I'll hold my hands up and admit some things could well have been avoided. In my advancing years, I have learnt to chill.

Back to it...

This same manager once had a frank discussion about my future, I say that as it was purely a one way conversation, I told him that one day I saw myself rising from the bottom and working my way to the and being involved with the running of the place. His response? "No, mate sorry. You dont have what it takes, honestly you do good work doing menial job but thats all you will ever be." In hindesight, I feel complete irony...

Another manager had a drug habit, was abusive to others and to me, paid himself extortionate wages - essentially paying himself for two jobs. Corrupt.

Back to this senior manager, eventually he got caught out by the MD of the company. He took down yet another manager with him as they conspired seperatly to steal from the safe. Senior managers wife was stealing from the till.

You must be thinking by now how the hell does this happen? Basically a premesis left to its own devices, surrounded by shady people. It happens. Its rare, but it happens.

The only reason I stayed so long was to prove every single on of these curse-word people wrong. I worked from the very bottom, and now i am at the very top. Hard work. Its affected my health but now i can throw it all back at them, if i wanted. I won't, because I'm not that type of person.

So we get to my current boss. We've worked together for 10 years, he has always been senior to me. He is the most unwilling person I've ever met, any idea is met with scorn, as a manager he lost his ambition about 2 years ago. Work has suffered. His attitude is infectious, it pervades the work place. He often doesnt turn in for work, leaving me to run the day to day business needs. Everyone is flat. He is rude. If called out on hos unfairness, he denies all. Saying he treats everyone with respect. He doesnt. A former member of staff was verbally abused daily, over text messages and in person. If anyone wants to book annual leave, he leaves it to the last second. Often forgetting and calling whichever employee a liar. I try to protect the staff the best i can over the years, taking the flak when it comes.

Roll forward to this past month. Hes worked 8 days in the last 31. Seven of those 31 were annual leave. He clearly wants to leave, but is happy in his comfortable lifestyle.

However, i am sick of it. I manipulated the hours that he insists i put in for him, even while off which is fraud by proxy. And head office noticed. So he got docked pay. And he complained to me, feigning ignorance I said it was an oversight as i had thrice the workload.

We had a conversation the other day where he attempted to big me up or in my estimation, butter me up so I would stay at my employment for longer. Its no secret I want to leave, to be able to show ambiton again is nirvana to me. However he is terrified that i leave before me the undertone of his messages prove that.

So continuing on today, in a strop he hands his notice in. Hoping he can get his missing wages, that he never earned. He doesnt have another job lined up, no viable options open to him

Thing is though as he was telling me this...

I get an email

Mr xx we would like to extend an offer for xx postion at well known national company.
