If you see someone with injuries/scars from self-harm or abuse, please don't ask them about it in public, especially in front of a group of people.
Post Body

I have been known to cut; I have symmetrical scars all over my arms. I'm not proud of my scars, but I don't make an effort to hide them. It's over 100 degrees outside and I'm burning up, therefore I wear tank tops every day. My scars are clearly visible, but I'm so used to them, I don't give them a second thought. I've been put on the spot about my scars/injuries in public surrounded by other people a few times, and I have to make up some story about a hyperactive pet scratching me up or me clumsily running into a wall or some shit. It's awkward as fuck, and everyone around the person knows what happened, and then there's that weird silence until the conversation shifts. If you think you're calling me out for cutting, now you've just made me feel even more disconnected and alienated now I just wanna go back into my shell. If you're really concerned, please ask me one on one, and I will probably tell you the truth and explain what it's like to be bipolar and have PTSD.
