I'm still shaken up from last night.
Post Body

Before I begin, let it be known that this isn't a story I should be sharing. It may be embarrassing and personal for my friend, but everyone's names have been changed. And any information that could identify anyone has been removed. My grammar will be raw and some things I say may not agree with one another. Some of what happened is completely out of place, but this is my account of what happened to my friend last night.

After a long night of performing, my friends and I decided to go out to eat. We were a group of at least 15 teenagers in a 24-hour restaurant. It was almost 12 AM. We waited about an hour and thirty minutes for our food. After the shenanigans, we collected our things and four of us (Rachel, Harold, and Sam) got in my mom's car and made our way back home. Rachel was the first one to get home. Luckily, she didn't have to experience what happened next. We had finally made our way to Sam's house when he suggested that I walk him up to his doorstep. I accepted the offer and we trotted down his driveway and up the stairs to his porch.

After standing outside for about a minute, he texted his mother to open the door. I heard a few footsteps. The door opened and there was a loud thud. Sam entered the house and spoke to what seemed like a small child (since I couldn't see them through the glass window). I figured everything was just fine until Sam's voice filled with panic. I walked into the house and saw his mother slumped against the wall with her eyes wide open. The fear set in. I remember a million thoughts racing through my head... Was she dead? Was she having a stroke? Should we call 9-1-1? My first inclination was that maybe she had some sort of condition, and Sam knew how to handle whatever was going on. I asked Sam what I should do and waited for a response. He was standing on the steps inside the house with a face of sheer terror. "Sam! Sam! What should we do? Should I call 9-1-1?" No response. And his mother was still out cold.

The next thing I thought to do was test her reflexes. I snapped my fingers in front of her eyes to test for blinking- no response. I checked her pulse by placing my middle and index finger against her jawline. A weak pulse. She was still alive. Was she breathing? I got close to her face and listened for breathing. Thankfully, there was. She rolled over groggily and stared at me. I backed up. I'd heard of times where people snapped out of it and turned hostile when regaining consciousness.

Well, what next? I told Sam that there was a pulse and that his mother was still alive. The only thing I could do was call 9-1-1. After waiting for what felt like eternity, an operator answered and asked me about the situation. I was in shock myself. I tried to explain what was happening to the operator but everything was running so quickly. She was asking me questions I didn't know the answer to, so I had to almost completely rely on Sam for answers; and he was out of it. "Sam! Sam! Listen. What's the address? Where are we?" He stared at the wall before mumbling the address. I didn't catch all of it so I needed it again. "I need that again Sam." I gave the operator the address, but I still didn't feel confident enough in the information Sam was giving me. The color had drained from his face, and his mouth was hanging open with no restriction. I put him on the phone to speak to 9-1-1 while I went outside to alert my mother- screaming and hollering. My other friend, Harold was still in the backseat of the car. When he found out he was eerily calm. The three of us dashed into the house to see if everything was alright. And Sam's mother had fully come to. Paramedics arrived and we waited outside. We waited outside for about 10 minutes when they'd told us that she was alright for now but they didn't know what was wrong. She promised she was alright, thanked us, and stood up.

And I feel terrible.

TL;DR Friend's mother passes out cold, appears dead, scares the living shit out of me.
