There was someone who worked at the company where I used to work, long before the days of COVID. I always found her somewhat attractive, but I'm basically an ogre (plus I worked in a different department), so our interactions were limited to her transferring calls to me. During COVID we each worked from home, although we would occasionally chat via IM.
Eventually I quit my job, as it made me wish I was no longer alive. I soon got another job with another company, and the referral bonus was generous. On a whim I went on LinkedIn and asked if my old coworker wanted a job where I work, and she said yes. She applied, got the job, and was reasonably happy. I checked in every once in a while, but I didn't want to be a creep (plus I was mentally coming apart), so I mostly left her alone. I then transferred to another department within the company, meaning we no longer speak to each other.
Well, me being the masochistic dumbass that I am, I happened to be on Facebook. Then I noticed her name pop up in my suggested friend feed, and FUCK! Like, she was always pretty, but she got hot! And now I wish I'd been clingier and less transparent, because holy shit, I would love to be in the same room as her! But we don't talk, I hold no delusions that she feels the same way about me, and if I started talking to her again it would be weird. I mean, I have another friend working at the same call center (the one she works in now, not the one at the old company) who may be able to boost my reputation or something, but I don't know. I'm pretty sure I fucked this up for myself. Fucking fuck!
