I found my gfs stepbrother dead
Post Body

(Sorry this is a long one) I (18M) was never particularly liked by my girlfriends parents. My family came from a lineage of farmers who sold out and left not much to their children. I grew up watching my parents work constantly and barely bring home enough to pay the bills. Most would consider us on the line of poverty. My girlfriends parents were never fond of how I was raised. They were the happy churchgoing Christians who tried their best to seem perfect in every way possible. While being of that religion myself, I never really went to church as often as they suggested. I would see my girlfriend when she was at her dads and avoid seeing her when she was at her moms. It was just the way it was. Her mom and stepdad banished us from dating and I accepted that they would never let me over until she moved out. Fast forward to prom. She begged her mom to let her go with me. And finally, her mom gave in. We go to different high schools and her prom was postponed due to a fire near the area they were hosting it. However, she was going to let us go out since my gf had already had her nails done and everything. I had just got my truck done and headed her way when I stopped at an intersection to check my windshield wipers. A bad ground on my firewall was causing them to act funky. This is when I saw an oil truck go by. I turned behind him and kept it easy on the new motor I had just put in my truck. The truck pulled ahead in front of me until it was out of sight. When I go to turn on her road is when things went downhill. He stepbrother (18) at the time, was at the end of her road in what was left of his car. His legs were twisted out of the bottom of his drivers door and the oil truck skidded to a stop in a yard. He had turned in front of the truck. After stopping, I knew I had to tell my gfs parents. To sum it up, I rushed to their house while attempting to call them and finally everybody rushed down there. (Maybe 1/4 mile away). By then, the first police officer was on scene. May I add that one of the nearest homeowners was on the phone when I stumbled on the scene so I assumed he was calling 911. That’s why I didn’t call. When they pulled up, everybody knew he was gone. The whole family screamed and cried. The whole scene was a lot to deal with as I tried my best to distantly comfort them while also giving them their space in this time. I sat in the ditch watching his older brother roll in a hayfield and rip out chunks of grass and throw up. Since that day it’s been a lot to deal with. Her parents now see that I try my best to be a respectable person and treat their daughter well. I spared a lot of details, but not much of my school knows and I try to keep it to myself.
