To start, I've read many a post in which the people writing were way worse off then I am. I am thankful that I have not had to experience any of these many hardships and tragedies.
To the point though. I have one of the most inconsiderate, selfish, and lazy flat mates in existence. It's as if he doesn't know that his actions often, if not always, affect the people around him. Many symptoms of this can be seen around the flat.
For the past couple months of living here I've always do the dishes, mainly because he would neglect to, consistently. Mind you, I always wash my dishes right after I eat and put them back. I rarely even cook any food at the flat, so this is minimal. For the past couple weeks I've refused to. And his dishes have been there, untouched. He doesn't make the slightest effort to clean. When there were no more clean dishes left, he started to solely eat takeout.
This isn't the worst of it, not to me at least. What really gets me is that there is never of moment of quiet in the flat. NEVER Always there's some music, or noises coming from his speakers in his room. This wouldn't be a problem if not for the design of the apartment. The walls are thin to begin with, but add on tile floors, and the sound never stops. When you're trying to read, study, or sleep this gets annoying really fast. It's as if he doesn't know that headphones exist.
And of course, the first thing to do would be to confront him, and I have. Well at least about the sound. And his response is, "I can't help it. That's just the way the apartment is designed." Are you fucking kidding me? Can somebody be that ridiculous? It's practically saying, "I don't give a fuck. I'm not going to change or compromise. I don't care about anybody but myself."
There are many more problems, but these rank 1 and 2. The dishes will just stay there. I can survive without them. I hope he will eventually get the hint, but I truly don't know what to do about the sound. It's driving me crazy. I could be overreacting but anyways, cheers.
