I'll spare you unnecessary background. I moved to the us about 5 years for school and my aunt has been living in the US for the past 10 years.I live with them during the summer when I'm not in school and since we're not so far apart in age we have this brother/sister/friend relationship. The other day we were talking about how I barely interact with women and just never go out. She started telling me that I should marry an American girls but I replied that I rather marry if any a woman from where I'm from because we will easily go together. She suddenly shifted the conversation to her friends and she got into great details about how much her marriage with her citizen men is constant arguing and fight. She let out that one time she self armed with a knife and got the mem arrested for several days but they "worked it out" and now they're apparently back together. It sent chills down my spine seeing the expression on her face describing how an innocent men got sent to jail under false abuse allegations. She was laughing at him, smiling from ear to ear as if she was telling me the best jokes she's ever heard. I let out an awkward half hearted laugh and switched the conversation. I couldn't have kept hiding my disgust for what she was saying so it was better just not to keep talking about it. She's married, but honestly I didn't think she'd be like this or condone things like this. I never saw her the same way after that day and although she was trying to get me to put myself out there instead of just studying and working out she did the opposite. And added another layer of brick wall between me and any thing resembling a committed relationship for the foreseeable future.
