Somewhat demoralized for not knowing female clothing size.

So to preface, I (23M) wanted to participate in an anime event, and this I bought some cosplay outfits. But unbeknownst to me, men and women clothing sizes weren’t one to one, and no one told me that before I received the clothing for the event. I was devastated that I spent money only to be greeted with disappointment.
