I had resolved to lie to my next partner, but this one made me feel safe enough to tell the truth. Everything was good up until this point.
Good chemistry, good compatibility, synchronized in values, wants for the future, long-term plans matched up.
Told the truth when asked, and could immediately tell it didn’t land well. Slow fade started, enthusiasm withered away, then finally told it was because of how many partners I’d had after I asked for clarity.
Lesson learned. Lying from here on out if the question ever comes up again.
Edit: thanks to everyone who responded positively. I didn’t expect as much misogyny and misandry as this received from some of the responses. I have decided that I’m not going to lie to my future partners, I’m just going to decline to answer the question because it is not their business, and if that is a deal-breaker for them, so be it.
