My solution to the TSA's current process
Post Body

Dogs. Underwear and "shoe" bomber would have been detected by dogs. Dogs are cheaper to train and maintain than xray scanner. Dogs require one handler. Scanners require multiple operators. Dogs are scalable and fast. Dogs can check rows of people waiting in line to walk through metal detectors.

Here are my responses to common concerns: * ceramic, nylon, wooden weapons: the amount of damage that can be done by one person or a group of people with these weapons is limited at best.

I was going to write more but I couldn't think of anything else that Backscatters/patdowns are supposed to be looking for.

Why aren't we using the tried and true solution? It's less invasive, cheaper, easier to implement, highly effective, and grandma won't be molested. Plus- bonus, you'll get to see more dogs at airports.
