Hi! So, I am very new to the concept of honoring and/or worshipping deities. Recently, I believe that I have been feeling a call and connection to Aphrodite. This is very exciting to me, and I would like to honor her as much as I possibly can! That being said, while looking up what sort of offerings and altars she might appreciate, someone mentioned masturbation/self love, as she is the Goddess of love, definitely including physical love. This really intrigued me, but I am curious to whether that would be blasphemous? I feel like if I were to engage in that, I may end up imagining her, which may be even more offensive than just self loving in her honor. I do NOT want to offend or disgust her in any way, but I cannot deny that I do think it could be beautiful if done properly. Any thoughts?

(I hope that this does not come off the wrong way. I just genuinely do not know and am curious. Edit: I am also a woman. I don’t think this should change people’s opinions, but it may.)

Added question: So I have only had two signs so far. But I was curious how valid they might be. When I prayed to the open for help with sleeping, not claiming any god or goddess, the first offering that I could think of was an apple. Then when I was searching for a candle to use because mine are in storage, the only one I could find was an apple scented one. Could be a sort of silly coincidence. But I looked up gods/goddesses related to apples afterwards and got Aphrodite and Idunn. I also have a sparrow and rose tattoo, which are attached to Aphrodite. So, sort of vague things. But here’s the kicker. I had been listening to one song on repeat on Spotify since I had done my open prayer. After doing hours of research on Aphrodite, I wanted to Facetime my friend. So I decided to change the song by turning off repeat, and skipping to the next song (which was all of my liked Spotify songs on shuffle). The next song, I kid you not, was “She’s so High” by Tal Bachman. He literally says Aphrodite’s name in the song... I am worried that I may be contacting a false spirit because these signs seem WAY too spot on or coincidental. Any thoughts? All of this happened within 24 hours. I’m tripping...
