TL:DR: Can you record using an Elgato Device to your phone with or without the Elgato Software?
So I'm a Samsung Dex user. For those who are unaware it is a feature on S8 and up phones S Tablets that allows you to use your Samsung phone for a Desktop experience.
A question some in the r/SamsungDex community has asked but yet to be answered that I recently have an urge to find out is whether we can use a capture card on Dex.
Long story short, we can use OBS and other software. However, I wonder if the Elgato capture cards can seeing how they have their own software. Their software isn't compatible with the phones as far as I've researched. Sure there's the phone app, but that's just a control board. I think I found somewhere that there is a driver you can download to make the Elgato work without other software. Just not sure if the driver will also work on phones.
Obviously the best way to a answer my question is to buy a used Elgato and test it out myself. But I figured why not ask around to see if it's been tried or if someone who's already got one is willing to try and test it out themselves.
Which leads to me to my question. Obviously I don't have a laptop or desktop at the moment. And since most of my computer needs are met using Samsung Dex I have no real desire to get one anymore. Thank you for any help with his mini project of mine.
