(4-6) Is what happens when you buy into your own hype.
Post Body

There are a ton of threads on here that point to a bunch of different reasons why the Raiders are doing so terrible this season.

  • Derek Carr's Early Injury
  • Offensive Line play
  • Coaching/Play Calling
  • Lack thereof Defense
  • National Anthems
  • Insert excuse

I want to talk about how the entire Raider Nation from Owner to Fan Boy bought into the media hype train about our team. Especially after the hot start that we had, I feel like everyone was already imagining the parade, booking travel to Minnesota, and getting rings fitted. Marshawn Lynch came out of retirement because he wanted to "bring a super bowl to Oakland". I think it was more of an "easy ride to a super bowl" he thought he was bringing.

I'll admit it, I bought into it too. I'm 28 years old and I've been a fan since I could walk. The Raiders have only been better than 8-8 only a handful of times since I've been alive, and I couldn't wait to be a fan of a "Good" Team. After last season and our offseason, I was so excited for this season I wrote off every little mistake or flaw of the organization. But now reality is setting in.

Ultimately I do blame JDR for the shaky season. He let his players run his team and they are reckless and undisciplined. It shows in the on the field antics, it shows in lack of preparation, and it shows in lack of fundamentals like catching passes and making tackles. I don't think this happened because JDR is a bad coach or a bad head coach for that matter. However, he has to be held responsible for the team's production. I think he should be allowed to finish the season as long as he can get a spark somewhere as get a string of wins. If not, we have to move on to put the players on notice.
