Hi all, my apartment complex sent us a rent renewal offer 11% higher than our current rent. We thought it was very steep and have sent them a counter and are awaiting response.

The renewal we received was for 12 months but was the same price as their month to month renewal, which we thought was strange. It's also extremely high compared to the other units we see advertised, I'm confident if we moved out they would advertise our unit to the public for much less. I did some light research and found this information. One of the notable things it mentioned was they can only raise rent 6 months after we receive RAP notice, which is a document we never received. Given the circumstances, what kind of recourse do we have?
