Age: 38, recently secured a job offer with a public sectior job that offers NYS tier 6 pension. Salary would be close to 130K (which is slightly better than what I am making).  I’ve had a decent amount of 401K and IRA savings at this point, but recently I feel job security and work life balance matter to me more importantly as my place has been doing non-stop layoffs.
As far as I read on multiple posts, it seems my age range is actually the best time to join Tier 6 as someone who just started their career.
Any thoughts?
