He's no doubt an integral part of our defense, and his total tackle numbers were good enough to tie for 3rd best in his career, but there's some other factors to think about.

• He turned 30 last week

• 2013 was the biggest cap hit of his contract, he was paid 13,000,000

• His cap hit drops to 7,000,000 in 2014, but only 2,000,000 is guaranteed

So essentially, he's coming off a pretty huge payday, so it could potentially be an option to cut him for 5,000,000 in cap savings and sign him to a cheaper contract (think Calvin Pace last year) He would still be making his guaranteed 2 million plus at least 1 more from a cheaper contract and idzik would have at most 4 more million to play with.
