Right now, the Jets are second in the league rushing yards allowed per game. They're also .3 average yards per carry better than the second best team in the league and they're first in the league in first downs allowed rushing with 14 through 5 games.
All of these unbelievably stats look even better when you think about two important things. The only team that is allowing less rushing yards per game than the Jets is the Denver Broncos, and it's pretty safe to assume that can be credited to their offense forcing people to play from behind. The other thing is that these stats are being dragged down by Sheldon Richardson's lone rookie mistake that led to a 59-yard run by Fred Jackson.
This run defense is allowing 3.0 ypc over the season having faced 3.0 running backs that have previously made the pro bowl.
This run defense is for real, and I'm excited to see what they do for the rest of the year.
