I’m a discreet Black guy in my mid-30s, trying to navigate the dating scene and explore my sexuality. I’m looking to meet other guys, but I want to avoid Grindr and bathhouses. I’m still figuring out if this is a phase or if I’m transitioning into my truth. Either way, I’m in a space where I want to explore and understand my sexuality better.

Are there other ways or places to meet like-minded guys? I’ve considered going to events and trying to catch someone’s eye, but I’m unsure if that’s realistic. I would really appreciate hearing about your experiences, especially from other Caribbean and African-American men.

I understand these experiences can vary a lot based on ethnicity. For example, I have white friends who are open about their sexuality with their families and friends, but I could never do that with my family.
