Foolishly, I made a post a couple weeks ago in this group asking if anyone was reselling ConTEAnental tickets. I was hit up by a few people, but ending up going with the first person that reached out to me. After we agreed on a price, they asked me if I was okay with paying through PayPal. I have a PayPal account but very rarely send money through it, and as such am not as familiar with it as Zelle & Venmo. So they told me to select the ‘Family and Friends’ option to send the money. I did all of that, then sent them their money. A few mins later, they asked me to send a screenshot of the transaction for proof, claiming they didn’t receive the money. After I sent a screenshot, they then sent me a screenshot of what looked like a perfectly official PayPal memo saying that the transaction was cancelled for security purposes and that my money would be refunded to me in a few business days. I was of course confused, but didn’t think too much of it. About an hour later, I started to think the whole thing was strange, especially the fact that I never got any error message from PayPal on my side. I messaged the dude again to ask for more clarification, but of course he blocked me. So I then decided to call PayPal, who confirmed that the transaction did in fact go through and that there was no security issue. I then realized I got scammed, and subsequently asked if they could nullify the transaction. They told me that because I selected the ‘Family & Friends’ option, they were powerless to do anything on their end, and suggested that I instead file a fraud claim with my bank. They also noted that a similar complaint had just been made against that profile, and that they were locking his account pending an investigation. Later I filed the fraud claim with my bank and I’m just now getting my $95 back. I will also be filing a police report for fraud. If the fraudster sees this, you messed with the wrong one, boo! To everyone else on this thread, please be smarter than I was and use extreme caution when buying resold tickets on here! Lesson definitely learned ðŸ˜
