Post Body

I have been dead set on moving to NYC since 2019. Where I live now is the worst place for me. The gay community is terrible here...it's very anti gay and my mental health has truly suffered over the years. NYC is like a hug from that crush you've always admired....and yet I can't seem to move there.

My job was supposed to transfer me, I've been waiting about a year for that to happen with no luck. I've applied for other jobs but they clearly want local applicants and people that live there vs. Someone that needs to relocate.

Obviously the smartest thing for me to do is secure a job first (probably remote or something) then move...but at this rate I'm tempted to just take my savings and just find a short term roommate, pay 3-6 months rent in advance...take a leave of absence from my job and just try my luck finding a job WHILE there. I'm not a freeloader, I'm a hard worker and wouldn't dream of asking anyone to let me stay for free. My bills will suffer a bit, hell my credit might even suffer but I simply am tired of waiting :( I shoulda been there already.

I know it's the most expensive city in the country, and blah blah blah but I work in the tech industry, I'm sure once I get a decent interview/job I'd be ok. Worst case scenario I'd still be able to come home at any time and even work as well.

Any thoughts or advice on this? 😫 I'm willing to sacrifice it all just to move where I can be happy and be myself.
