It's gotten so bad in my building that the co-op board has informed all tenants that they will be subjected to hefty fines if they don't properly sort the trash from the different kinds of recycleables. They're gonna install cameras in all of the trash chute rooms, too. This is because the trash compactor has needed to be fixed a number of times after people keep throwing whatever the fuck they want down the chute. It's a machine, not a fucking black hole, dumbasses...
