I have a EVGA Nvidia Geforce GTX 1080 SSC. I don't play multiplayer titles, however I do play single player games at the resolution of 4k. I got my 1080 before the Ti's came out so no Ti. I recently went on a computer building spree where I ordered a pre-built Dell in Dec before realizing that I can hardly modify it, and ordered a new Ryzen 7 3700X build yesterday that I will put together myself. (Don't ask I was lazy at first, and already sold the Dell.)
I've been reading here silently all of the 1080 vs 2080 Super threads, where mostly people say go for the 2080 Ti. However if I do that my son will get my 1080 and I will only have a 1060 to sell to recoup some cash, which isn't worth very much -- so basically I will pay full price. This is after paying full price for the 980 and then the 1080. Without varied opinions I cannot bring myself to pull the trigger on the RTX 2080 Super.... And I don't want to spend the cash on a 2080 Ti though it would be the most obvious upgrade path.
I currently have no games that support the new technology. I have control but on Xbox One X, so that is a wash -- and no games currently come in card deals. I should have no trouble with the 3700X and the 1080 playing 4k at 30fps which is fine with me with high-settings. with only a 20~30% increase, is it wise to get the RTX2080 Super? I like DLSS and am used to gaming at the top, but this time the top just seems a bit above where I am.
Anyone have some thoughts on this, I am coming from an original gaming pc of an i7-4970k Devils Canyon and a 1080 to a R7 3700X and a 1080.... I might be buying star citizen, but I've seen 1660s perform well in that game... any help would be nice!
