I'm not a nurse. I wanted to be one, but I don't have the chops for it. I'm... Wait for it... A patient.
I want to thank you ALL, everyone with an RN or a BSN or a CNA behind their name, for what you do every day. On Saturday, I took myself to the ER with chest pain that wouldn't quit. The ER attending, the nurses, the CNA and the paramedic who looked after me there treated me like I mattered and got me the help I needed. When I was sent to a bigger hospital, I saw two doctors for about 10 minutes total. Every other interaction I had in the place was with either a nurse or a CNA. They talked me off the panic ledge and helped me feel like I was gonna get better. When they got my dx (pericarditis) and I needed a cath, the scrub and circulating nurses made me feel like a rockstar while I was on that table.
I don't care how skilled the doctors are. It's y'all who make the medical profession what it is today. Thanks for reading my ramble. I appreciate y'all and I'm grateful that you go through endless (sometimes literal) shit for people like me.
