Hi,
So, I'm in a phlebotomy course and I just had a quick question. I find that when I get a venipuncture sometimes it won't hurt but sometimes I'll find a stinging pain. My veins are very superficial and easily palpable (I'm an athletic male), so I don't believe there would be nerve damage. Today I did a venipuncture and another student said that it stung a bit and I asked if it was a radiating, shooting, or hot pain and she said no. So, my question is: is there a difference between a sensory nerve getting damage and a motor nerve? I searched and I found a page that stated that a stinging pain would be associated with a sensory nerve which they tend to grow back quickly. And a shooting and radiating pain would be that of a motor nerve. Is this true?
