Well it finally happened. Two broad based disc protrusions in my lower back.im only 29 and started my career 2 years ago. I’ve always tried protecting my back the issue arises when someone Is taller than me and we’re moving from gurney to bed or pulling them up.
Talked to my manager as I’m now seeing a spine specialist and gave me a note to not lift more than 10lbs. Unfortunately I have to apply for a position to work light duty and if they don’t have anything available then I would have to be off the remaining time. Which surprise, they don’t have any positions available.
My issue is I like working 3/12s and I’m making decent money ($41 with night shift differential) on a med surg floor but I don’t want to risk herniating my back as my doc stated one of them is about ready to pop. So I may have to leave bedside for a while just to give my back a break. Any jobs where I could work 3/12s and make roughly the same money?
