Job Interview
Post Body

Hello nurses! I have a job interview tomorrow that I’m excited about but I have a question for any of you who may have been in my shoes.

I had a prior offense (DUI, first offense) that the nursing board took almost a year and a half to decide their feelings on, which held up my NCLEX testing and of course resulted in a pretty serious gap between my graduation and exam date. If I hadn’t retained an attorney to light a fire I fully believe I’d still be awaiting their response.

That said, all fines, fees, and restrictions are done with to the state in question, and I am now bearing my nursing license.

Do any of you wonderful people have suggestions to address the gap if I’m asked in my interview? I don’t want to lie, exactly, but the truth is uncomfy to acknowledge even though I’m proud of myself for clawing out of the shame puddle I allowed myself to fall into.
