I have been a nurse for 14 years now. An aide for 4 years before that. I have worked trauma, psych, ICU, and am now a new nursing director at a SNF. I was in a training program for the first 4ish months. But it was not the greatest training program. A lot of vague information. Then I was given my own building in June 2023. A small SNF. 41 beds. And I’ve loved it. I’ve thrown myself headlong into it. Then, yesterday the CNO met with me along with the administrator. And they told me they were demoting me to ADON and transferring me to another building. They said I needed ‘more training’. Then they proceeded to tell me that this other building was a ‘mess’ and that I would do such a good job working with the DON there and that maybe, eventually, I could come back to my current building. So now I’m confused. Am I shitty at being a DON, or do they just want to use me to put out all their fires without calling me a regional nurse??? I did go online and apply for some other nurse jobs. This whole scenario has really soured me on being a DON. ANY advice would be much appreciated.
Edit: I just want to say thank you for the responses. They made me feel so much better!
