First the Hospice nurses: Why you love it. Why you left it. Coping with constant existentialism, pain, loss, and sadness?
Hospice is heavy. It has been the most intense, rewarding, draining, overwhelming, unpredictable, demanding, and emotionally wrought job. After 3 years, it seems to have taken a toll. (Honestly, being a nurse in general is taking a toll..) I have a plan to soon transition into per diem temping. Just a bit sad about it because for a long time, this seemed like my calling. It just doesn’t seem like it leaves much room in an empath’s life to cope with other life stresses, and it’s time to disengage.
Temp nurses: is it sustainable? Pros, cons, tips and need-to-know. What’s a typical day in the life?
